City belied their poor away record to produce a threatening display that was capped off by two brilliant goals.
Matt Etherington ran 50 yards and beat two defenders to score the Potters' first, before Kenwyne Jones produced a stunning strike that went in off the bar towards the end of the first half.
"We had a poor start but their strikers caused us all sorts of problems," said Pulis after his side`s 3-2 defeat.
"In the second half we pushed and created a lot of problems for them and in the end they were pleased to hear the whistle I think."
