Barnsley have completed the signing of Uruguay international Diego Arismendi on a season-long loan from Stoke. Arismendi, 22, for whom Stoke paid £2.5million to Nacional in August last year, has made only two appearances for the Potters and spent the final two months of last season on loan at Brighton. Tykes manager Mark Robins told the club's official website: "I'm very pleased that Stoke City have allowed him to come here. "He's a full Uruguayan international. He has not played much for Stoke, but they signed him for a big fee last summer and I'm looking forward to working with him. "He's a very good player and will compete for a place in our midfield. Diego is another great addition to our squad." Arismendi, first capped by Uruguay in May 2008 with one further appearance, follows in the footsteps of Stoke pair Ryan Shotton and Carl Dickinson, who spent last season on loan at Oakwell.
