Versatile defender/midfielder Danny Pugh has spoken out about his time outside the Potters XI, and stated he may need to move on if he doesn't force his way into the side.

Pugh, 26, told The Sentinel that he believes at this time of his career he needs to be playing first team football and that with all the competition in the Stoke squad a loan move until the January window may be just what he wants.

Whether that is what City boss Tony Pulis wants is another matter as he already has seven players out on loan and Pugh's versaitilty, he can play left back, central midfield or left wing, leaves Pulis safe on the kowledge he can call upon a reliable member of his swuad to cover injuries and suspension.

Pugh has only started the two Carling Cup games this season with three brief sub appearances in the league. He travelled with the squad to Everton last Sunday but was not part of the final 18. The left footers next game is likely to be the Carling Cup clash with Portsmouth on the 27th October.

The ex-Manchester United man has also played for Leeds and Preston, whom he elft to join the Potters in a £500,000 deal two years ago.
