Name: Joe Ledley
Position: Midfielder
D/O/B: 21/1/87
Current Club: Cardiff City
Reported Value: £6m
Welsh captain has long been tracked by Tony Pulis with reported bids of upto £7m last summer and in the January transfer window knocked back by Cardiff.
Can play left wing, central midifeld or as a second striker and has the creative skill to open up defences. Chips in with his fair share of goals too.
Out of contract in 12 months so Cardiff may have to lower their asking price or lose him for nothing next summer.
Name: Kevin Doyle
Position: Striker
D/O/B: 18/9/83
Current Club: Reading(now transferred to Wolves for £6.5m)
Reported Value: £6.5m
Before signing for Premier League newboys Wolves for £6.5m the Republic of Ireland hitman was linked with Stoke.
The Potters missed out on him as a £50,000 signing from the Irish league in July 2005 when Reading pipped them to his signature. Four, mostly successful, seasons later he is a regular international and a proven goalscorer at Premier League level.
Not sure which role he'd have taken up at Stoke but will no doubt score goals in his quest to keep Wolves up.
Name: Michael Owen
Position: Striker
D/O/B: 14/12/79
Current Club: Newcastle United(now transferred to Manchester United on a free transfer)
Reported Value: Free
Always looked a long shot from the moment Tony Pulis and Peter Coates declared their interest and his signing for Manchester United proved his reputation is still alive among the very best.
Wages would have been a big stumbling block and, with his injury record, it may be best that the Potters leave his tab to the bigger boys.
Name: Darius Vassell
Position: Striker
D/O/B: 13/6/80
Current Club: Manchester City(now signed for Ankaragücü on a free transfer)
Reported Value: Free
Vassell's career has gone seriously downhill, Always been a trier and strangely has a decent strike rate at interntaional level (6 in 22, including a lot of substitute appearances) but yet has a poor one in club football (52 in 265) for Aston Villa and Manchester City.
Has just signed for a Turkish side where over 3,000 fans welcomed him at the airport upon his arrival.
Injuries haven't helped his progress in recent seasons andwas never given a run in the side at Eastlands.
Would have struggled to dislodge Fuller from his role in the team yet would have provided adequate back up it would appear.
Name: Habib Beye
Position: Right back
D/O/B: 19/10/77
Current Club: Newcastle United
Reported Value: £1m
31-year-old full back impressed during Newcastle's disastrous season, being one of very few players to emerge from it with any credit.
Too good for the Championship the ex-Marseille captain may want to join his Senegalese teammates Ibrahima Sonko, Amdy Faye, Abdy Faye and Salif Diao at the Britannia Stadium.
Paper talk has also been rife of a deal involving Andy Griffin returning to St.James Park as part exchange for Beye.
