Stoke City Under 18's: Season Review 2010/11

Last updated : 23 May 2011 By Dan Buxton

City Under 18's had a disappointing season results wise, finishing bottom of the league with just 18 points, but some promising displays from a young side showed promise for the Potters.

With midfielder Florent Cuvelier, a Belgian international, at the heart of the midfield the Potters competed well in near enough every game but were often guilty of not taking advantage of being on top in games and lacking the killer instinct.

The side was mainly made up of first year scholars, who will all make up next seasons Under 18's squad, including Tunji Agbaje, whilst top scorer James Alabi was signed midway through the season and has only just turned 16 years old.

Of the second years scholars none were offered professional contracts by the club, although striker Ryan Brunt and defender Craig Sinclair were both offered third year deals due to spending most of this season on the sidelines through injury.

Highlights for this past season included beating a Port Vale side including a few first team squad players 4-0 at Vale Park in the Staffs Senior Cup, a 1-0 win away at Biddulph in the same competitions semi final, 1-0 home win over Liverpool and a 3-1 home win over Crewe, thanks to an Agbaje hat trick.
