Leicester started the brighter. Stoke game them too much respect and paid for it with 15 minutes of pressure from the newly relegated from the premiership side.

Their play was exceptional, they passed the ball superbly and you really did think that Stoke were going to take a hammering.

It was in this period of pressure that Leicester scored the only goal of the game, James Scowcroft rose above Brynjar Gunnarson to head past Cutler into the bottom right corner of the net. A goal that really should have been defended much better.

As soon as the goal was scored the Stoke City faithful were encouraging their team on, it was a good atmosphere although the attendance was low. A great rendition of Delilah for the camera's and all the usual songs.

The players reacted to this and it wasn't long before Stoke started making their own chances. Bjarni Gudjonson with a great header which just flew past Ian Walkers left hand post was the closest.

We never looked like scoring despite all the pressure that we gave out particuarly in the last 10 minutes. Chris Iwelumo had a good chance but hit his striker over the bar being closed down very quickly by two leicester defenders.

The best chance fell to Jurgen Van Doerzen who paniced when he got himself in a great position in the 6 yard box, although at an angle he could have slid the ball past Walker but fired panic-stricken into the sidenetting.

Man Of The Match: Couldn't single anybody out.
