Thomas Sorenson - 8 - Saved yet another penalty and had no chance with either goal but was otherwise solid
Robert Huth - 7 - Although he gave away a penalty it was a tackle that was needed and the player was yards offside. Showed good composure on the ball and defended strongly
Andy Wilkinson - 7 - In an unfamiliar left back position he performed admirably and put in another good shift, just one rash tackle for which he was booked
Abdoulaye Faye - 6 - Still looks ropey and at the moment he is very close to being the odd man out when the defensive five become four. Has at least one more game with Huth suspended next week
Ryan Shawcross - 8 - Another commanding display. Always there when the opposition threatened and capped it off with a vital headed goal
Rory Delap - 5 - Another disappointing display on the right for the Irishman. Just doesn't look comfortable out there and doesn't have a wingers mindset
Matthew Etherington - 8 - Quiet first half but outstanding second half. Ball after ball was delivered into the perfect areas but couldn't be finished off. His corner was headed in by Shawcross for the second and how he didn't have at least another assist I'll never know
Salif Diao - 8 - Was everywhere and although made a few fouls he broke up play with countless expertly timed tackles
Dean Whitehead - 6 - Busy game but whereas he did the dirty work reasonably well he let himself down with his distribution
Tuncay - 8(Man of the Match) - Outstanding effort, fantastic goal and surely cemented his place for next week. Was everywhere and got better and better as the game wore on
Ricardo Fuller - 6 - Livened up second half but was anonymous for the first fourty five.
Subs
Glenn Whelan - 6 - Came on as City tried to open up the game. Didn't really get but good effort and should have scored when he got on the end of an Etherington cross
James Beattie - 6 - Had a point to prove when he came on and effort seemed improvement on recent outings. Didn't get near the goal but showed good attitude after recent events
