Player Ratings: Stoke 3-1 Manchester City

Last updated : 25 February 2010 By Dan Buxton

Thomas Sorenson - 8 - Several fantastic saves kept his side in the game and then was able to relax later on as the players did the job at the other end. After a few quiet weeks he was there when needed

Dean Whitehead - 9(Man of the Match) - Absolutely outstanding. Never put a foot wrong in a performance that has seen him elevated up the queue for the right back position. Will no doubt return to the midfield for the next game but we should have no worries for a future right back

Danny Collins - 7 - Was solid in defence although he struggled once Wright-Phillips came on and also supported the attack well and was more than willing to bomb forward.

Ryan Shawcross - 8 - Fantastic performance yet again. Had Adebayor in his pocket and this led to the Togo striker lashing out and getting sent off. Scored the vital second in a spot of justice after last Tuesday.

Robert Huth - 8 - Commanding in the air, always there when needed and composure on the ball started many attacks

Liam Lawrence - 6 - Disappointing in attacking sense but ran himself into the ground trying to make things happen for himself. The game, and team, only started to open up late on and Liam had long been subbed by then

Rory Delap - 7 - Great engine, helped out the defence when in the wing and also kept the ball well before pressing more after moving inside. Another assist from a long throw

Glenn Whelan - 8 - Another top performance. Had three in a row against Man City, he just needs to produce it against other sides and get more consistency in his game to nail down the second central midfield slot alongside Whitehead

Salif Diao - 6 - Struggled to get into the game but did press well and THAT run when Adebayor and Bellamy were in on goal was superb, stopping a certain opener. Pace of game, and amount of games recently, meant an early end to the action as he was subbed

Mama Sidibe - 6 - Got booked early on for uncharacteristically mouthing off at the ref, when he seemed to have no case to argue, and didn't really get going as he found it difficult with the visitors doubling up on him

Ricardo Fuller - 8 - Ran the channels well and was a constant menace to the backline. He carried the burden of being the only forward, with Sidibe off form, well and then City took advantage late on when the defence were tired

Tuncay - 7 - Struggled for most of the game, with a few stray passes, but great goal and commitment, as always, was there for all to see

Danny Pugh - 7 - Great display from man who has spent an age on the bench. Looked lively on the bench, never gave the ball away and was always willing to get stuck in

David Kitson - 8 - Man who got it all started with a superb finish after being involved in the build up. Put himself about and hurried the defence and midfield with his closing down and tackling forcing passes going array left, right and centre for teh visitors
